Very appropriate music for the film - decadent, hedonistic, sexually ambivalent 80s dance club. It was a new age and a new freedom for self indulgence where more people could sense that ‘anything goes’ and old morals were either questionable or completely discountable. That’s the way it was.
Customer Review: Dissapointed with missing tracks
I own this movie and have seen it many, many times with friends. The music from the film is GREAT! However, I’m slightly disappointed with the soundtrack. It is missing the true highlight songs of the movie by ‘Phil Collins’ and ‘Huey Lewis’. It is also missing one of my favorites, “I Touch Roses” by ‘Book of Love’ which was played in the cab scene when he was taking Patricia (the strung out drug addict who passed out in her food at the restaurant) home. All and all, I give the soundtrack a 3 for the GREAT artwork on the casing and of course for the music it did not leave out.

Rob Reiner, who used to be more interested in personal style as a filmmaker, continues to duck behind bland movies about important ideas with this based-on-fact film about the embattled white prosecutor (Alec Baldwin) who brought racist killer Byron De La Beckwith (James Woods) to justice after 30 years of failed attempts. Charged with the murder of civil rights leader Medgar Evers, Beckwith slimes up the film pretty well via Woods’s somewhat showy performance, while Baldwin generously assumes the usual clich?s surrounding reluctant heroes. Whoopi Goldberg is at her most stately as Evers’s widow. The whole self-important production is dogged by the obvious thought that it might have played better (and to far more people than it did in theaters) on television. –Tom Keogh

We all know and love the funny side of Whoopi. With this stellar performance Whoopi proves that The Colour Purple was not a one off. She brings the character to life with great compassion - hard to do in any story. Great to see if finally out on dvd

This movie very closely represents the truth of this story. The artists did a FABULOUS job and the historical data is relatively accurate so this is a timeless treasure for my collection. To READ an accurate account, purchase Bobby DeLaughter’s Book “Never Too Late”. It will provide a more detailed account that can’t be captured in the movie.
