Arrived in Arles 19th February 1988, moves into a cheap hotel (five francs a day), it is snowing so van Gogh
paint's winter landscapes. 10th March receives 100 francs from Theo and spends half on canvas and paint. He takes a liking to the bridge at Pont
de Langlois, it reminds him of a bridge back home in Holland which he painted in 1883.
The
bridge named after a former keeper was demolish in a 1935, but in 1962 a copy of this historic bridge was built just three kilometers up the
canal.
